One time me and my children visited the “Taman Pintar” located in the city center of Yogyakarta city, only about about 15 minutes using a Becak from Malioboro or Bringharjo Market, in the center of Yogyakarta. “Taman Pintar” or in English can be translated “Smartly Park”, is a garden or area which contains entertainment facilities for young children, especially elementary school children and early childhood (2-13 years). Entertainment facilities are provided not just entertainment but a science concept presented in a simple and entertaining. Existing facilities mainly dominated by the type of packet theory and application of science that is packaged for the consumption of children.

The main purpose of the existence of “Taman Pintar” is to: provide a means of learning science for students who support the educational curriculum, motivate children and young people to love science, assist teachers in developing teaching in the fields of science, science provides an alternative tour. This is done by the Government of Yogyakarta as a form of concern to confront such a rapid development of science since the 90’s, especially Information Technology. Furthermore, “Taman Pintar” is expected to become a vehicle for expression, appreciation and creation science in a fun atmosphere.

When we entered the “Taman Pintar” then we will be faced with a Playing Park or Playground that is free of charge. This is a public space and welcoming for visitors “Taman Pintar”. Provide a variety of vehicle and equipment displays fun for children and families. Furthermore, when we buy a ticket for Rp. 5000, – (Children) and Rp. 8000, – (Adult), then we can visit the Oval House (Gedung Oval), House Memorabilia (Gedung Memorabilia), Early Childhood Building West (Gedung PAUD Barat), and East Early Childhood Building Gedung PAUD Timur). The part that is fun for my children is at the Oval House, because here is a variety of rides and display equipment based science education that is fun and can be demonstrated by the visitors. And could be accessible by all levels of visitors, school children, etc..

Inviting children to visit the “Taman Pintar” does not disappoint, when it comes to home then the children thank to you. Some things to note is make sure that children were eating and in good health. Bring supplies that are good for children, such as mineral water drinks, or fruits. This is to prevent avoiding burnout in children, because they will be lulled by the existing facilities.
